Dear Friends,
Two years ago, many of you supported me in my run for Supervisor for San Francisco’s District 8. Although we did not win that race, we were able to build a strong coalition that brought together neighborhood activists, affordable housing advocates, environmentalists, nurses, teachers and others who believe politics should respond to the long-term needs of all our communities, rather than the short-term financial gain of the few.
Nearly two years later, I am more committed than ever to fighting for the kind of San Francisco we championed in that campaign.
This June I will be on the ballot again, running for re-election to San Francisco’s Democratic County Central Committee, on which I currently serve as a Vice Chair. The DCCC is the governing body for the San Francisco Democratic Party. In addition to registering voters and turning out voters out at election time, our DCCC endorses in local races and gives voice to the values of San Francisco Democrats.
I am proud to have helped lead our local Democratic Party in offering a progressive, independent challenge to the sometimes-too-cozy relationship between City Hall and the special interests local government is supposed to regulate. And I am also proud that we have stood up on national issues like ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Please join me on Monday, April 30 at Blush Wine Bar, 476 Castro Street for a fundraiser to support my re-election to the San Francisco Democratic County Central Committee. I hope you will consider donating and attending; if you are not able to make it, please consider contributing generously online at www.rafaelmandelman.com/donate.
Thank you!
Rafael
